Flap drag
 

Hi

Can anyone clear this up?
In a size for size situation which produce more drag - Plain or Fowler flaps?

I know the Fowler flap will produce more lift but does that affect drag performance?

At full flap (assuming equal flap area and deflection) there may not be much difference in drag.

But since you can probably use smaller size Fowler flaps, drag may be less.
