Aircraft lights operation
Hi, I want to know in which way your airline works with the a/c lights. When do they turn them (outboard/inboard, turnoff, taxi, strobe, position, anticollison, etc) on and off .
Thankyou |
Our sop's are as above except for a bit of penny pinching
NAV lights ON only during hours of darkness to preserve bulb life I have been using a bit of common sense with that particular sop for the following reasons: Dificult to remember to turn them ON at the onset of twilight We have dual lights anyway so if a bulb did blow it transfers to the secondary As the above poster mentioned it is an almost universal standard NAV lights ON = a/c manned and lastly How much can a bulb cost? Yes I know slap on the word a/c compliant to a device and bump the cost up 10 fold |
I observe that many cew like to keep the strobes on for some time and that seems sensible. My pilot nephew says that he was challenged by maintenance about usage of the strobes and bulb life.
He asked them to compare the price of new strobe bulbs with a new a/c (complete with drew and pax!) ... |
You mean on ground ?
