737 NG Main Battery Charger
Hello
I have a question about the 737NG Main Battery Charger. From the information I have been able to obtain the main battery charger is normally in the "transformer rectifier" mode. The main battery charger goes to the "charge" mode when the battery voltage goes below 23v dc. The battery charger cannot go into the "charge" mode during any of these conditions: Fueling station door open APU start Standby power switch to the BAT position Standby power switch to the AUTO position, battery switch ON, and DC BUS 1 and AC TRANSFER BUS 1 do not have power Battery overheat. So when any of the above conditions are true, is the battery charger in the in the "transformer rectifier" mode. Thanks David www.737FlightSim.com |
You have no question, you have the answer :D

Hi Allendc,
I don't have my books in front of me......but.. Doesn't the APU use AC power to start when it's available, and if it's not available, ie. cold start, then the main battery charger wouldn't be powered to do anything! The third item, the standby power in auto etc, then as you say, transfer bus 1 is not powered therefore how can the battery charger get power, unless external power is connected. I agree with the last item. But without my books, or a good Flight Engineer, I don't know about the rest! Cheers, FD :\ |
