B737 hyd pump cavitation
700 series. I've come across some instances of elec pump o'heat and/or eng pump low press during cruise. (High level, long sector, cold soak)
Apparently this is caused by blocking of the hyd reservoir pressurisation by ice resulting in pump cavitation. Has anybody else any experience of this problem, and can they throw any further light on the subject? Regards Exeng |

Similar advice from Boeing who suggest it takes about two weeks for such an accumulation of water to be a problem. Regards Exeng |

We've seen it a few times in the last couple of months on different aircraft. We believe it is the freezing problem.

I had a report of this happening on a long (10hrs+) delivery flight. It rectified itself in the descent.

There's a boeing mod out to put the Px module in the A/C bay in the 7/800's, to prevent icing in the filter. We had problems with 3 hr + flights. All you now get in the wheelwell is a gauge and the charging port.
