A340-600 wheels fix
 

Hello all,. .. .anyone out there properly understand the Goodrich fix for the A340-600 wheels following the 12 Feb RTO? Confess I don't. Offline or on the forum.

In simple terms I am of the understanding that the heat shield designed to delay the wheel from destroying itself before the thermal plugs have a change to work.. .. .No black magic, the heat shield does not prevent it from occouring again ( in terms of more thermally resistant alloy) rather they delay the transfer of heat from areas that could be thermally weakened to allow the areas that should heat and react work correctly.. .. .They only required a slightly better margin on the existing design as the failure occoured at above MTOW.
