Answer this.......
This is my first posting on tech log and I am hoping someone can answer this.
In simple terms how do the calibrating aircraft calibrate ILS, MLS, DVOR, NDB, DF and TACAN. Sensible answers please as this is in relation for a job interview. SC.......................................................... .............................. |
Here's a page with a pretty picture, but not much information, from a company that makes the equipment they have on board the testing aircraft.
http://www.instantweb.com/l/litton/p222.htm From the sound of it they compare the received signals to where they should be, based on INS. |
Cheers lufty
Any more help would be greatful. SC.......................................................... .............................. |
A ground crew accurately measures the survey aircraft's position while the a/c flies a series of manouvres for the aid eg for an ILS something along the lines of:
1. G/s & Loc centred 2. G/s full scale up, Loc full scale left etc etc etc I understand the survey a/c has rather more accurate receivers than usual. Some of the calibration can also involve receivers placed around the navaid transmitter. Can't remember anymore about it... http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/redface.gif |
