type ratings
 

I am lead to believe that ERJ145 pilots will have a reduced type rating to put the EMB 170 / 190 on their licence. Does anybody know how this works? A 319 / 320 / 321 and even maybe 330 could work (same engine placement etc) but the 145 and 170 are entirely different.. .Just intrigued if it's just manufacturer back handers to certifying departments that make these things move or if there are actually regulations?
