Books ?

Having now completed my reading of both volumes of the wonderful Flightwise series, I am now looking for some more high quality aviation reading material to stock up on for Christmas ....

Any ideas ?

It you don't mind the math, John Anderson's books are really good, starting with Introduction to Flight.

Very hard to top "Flightwise"!

Flightwise was discovered by reading a post here on PPrune ....

I'll have a look at John Anderson's books ...

Thanks Prof

Fligtwise:Principles of Aircraft Flight
(ISBN 1-85310-719-0) £24.95
and
Flighwise vol. 2 : Aircraft Stability and Control
(ISBN 1-85310-870-7) £24.95

Is a two part series written by Chris Carpenter and published by Airlife Publishing.

--------

They were designed to provide the professional aviation community and aviation enthusiasts with an introduction to aerodynamics (book 1) and aircraft flight and control (book 2).

They are very well written, with pleanty of illustrations and very little mathematics.

There is no need for a lot of flying experience, book one for example starts off with a simple introduction, explaining Newtons laws, units, vectors and other items in an easy to understand way. Gradually it starts to become more technical, finishing in Wing Planform Considerations and Gust Responce.

A great set of books ... thoroughly recommended.
