B737 Fuel tanks

Hi,
Is there anyone who can tell me the reason WHY de wingtanks have to be full when you have more than 453 kgs in the centertank ?
What if the wingtanks are not full (3000kgs + 3000kgs)and you have for example 1000kgs in the centertank. Do you have to defuel are can you make a correction to the DOW ?
Thanks a lot

Yes you can me the adjustment to the DOW, but only in situations permited by the MEL. If I`m not mistaken (don`t have the MEL here with me) one of those is Centre tank inop fuel pumps. Otherwise you can`t make the adjustment to the DOW. WHY? MLG structural limitations!

See y`a!

might have something to do with wing bending relief maybe.

It is a structural limitation. 453 kg is exactly 1000 lbs.

On the ground you can transer fuel by using the defueling valve. Check out Supplementary Procedures: Ground Transfer of Fuel.
