Transalpine OEI Decision Points
My company publishes Decision Points along the fixed transalpine routes that we regularly fly. However I notice that as we approach points like Geneva that we are often given a direct clearance which takes us off the 'analysed' route.
When I get such a clearance I usually ask to continue on the airway because I consider that by taking the shortcut I am making the published OEI decision point void. Any thoughts? |
OEI POINTS
Maxalt,
I would have thought that your OEI points were based on an area say 30nm either side of track and safety alt/stab.alt perf which should allow some flex on routing. If the direct routing is always from about the same point/approx., then speak to your ops people to give an alternative OEI point,or you just have to get into the books and work out your own pre-planned safety altitude/ stab.alt using company criteria. Its not that difficult-I just used to wake-up the nav. -- "just to confirm my figures for 1,2,or 3 engines out". Easy...;) |
