Aileron attachment Piece Question

I recently got checked out in a Light Sport Aircraft called a Vashon Ranger. It has an unusual aerodynamic attachment to each aileron which I am curious about what it is for. It is not attached to the very aft portion of the aileron but instead, the training edge of this piece is flat and mounted in a way that its trailing edge is close to the trailing edge of the aileron(a cutaway profile is a sort of C-shape).

You can see it in this YouTube video at 12:55 on the inboard section of the training edge of the aileron.

Perhaps assistance for aileron deflection.

My guess - some vibration mode happens if the flow from the trailing edge isn't turbulated, probably when the flaps are deployed. Also, I make a small bet that it's some other reason.

I've seen something similar in the past (90 degree to the airflow riveted plates) - they're to 'heavy up' the aileron in flight to provide more feel.

I know naught of the aircraft in question and the video is a bit average to pick detail.

Possibly (?) a gurney flap ? Gurney flap - Wikipedia

Could it be a fixed aileron trim tab?

Perhaps these photos will help clarify the design/shape of the aileron 'fixtures'. The images were screen-captured from the Vashon Aircraft website and cropped to the area of interest. The 'fixtures' are reminiscent of a Gurney flap, but extend both above and below the trailing edge.
