A320 ECAM procedures where I should read the paper instead

Hoping to get back to flying after 2 years.

What are the A320 ECAM procedures where I should go to the QRH instead of following the ECAM ?
thanks

You mean the newspaper ?

If it’s on the ECAM, it’s not in the QRH, it is in the FCOM.

Procedures-> Abnormal Procedures

Ok on a more serious note from my previous post :)

On Your QRH You will find a section called "OEBPROC". This is where the OEBs are published and explained. As per Airbus philosophy, anytime an ECAM pops-up You must first ensure there are no OEBs applicable to the failure. In case there are, You are required to action the OEB first and, according to the failure, subsequently disregard or complete the ECAM. This will be detailed in the OEB itself again depending on the problem.

Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot, I’m also referring to cases like, smoke, or engine dual failure, or emergency descent, are those still being done from the QRH?, where can I find this info?

Hi, sounds like you are either completely new to Airbus philosophy or did not collect enough time prior to 2019. Emergency Descent is a memory item. Which you can then backup with the ECAM. No need for QRH in the classic scenario.

In general, you refer to the QRH anytime there is a problem which hasn't been detected by the ECAM or cannot be shown on the ECAM. Smoke, not all scenarios will trigger ECAM. Dual engine failure results in screens going offline for a while, hence QRH.

I am afraid it's not that straight forward nor what you say is entirely correct Emer DES only initial actions are memory items. Then ECAM/QRH needs to be applied. All failures are covered in FCOM. QRH contains only some important failures. Dual engine fail CM1 PFD is always there his ND is lost only for 8sec. By the time you get your wits about like keeping your speed declaring May day etc. 8secs are over. CM2 never recovers his screens unless APU is started. QRH follow up is required as the full procedure till ditching/force landing is not on ECAM.

Hi,

Check the FCTM in PRO-ABN section with respect to the procedure you want to review. You will find the answers regarding the emergency descent, the all engines failure and the smoke detection and procedure application.

Not to muck this up, but not all operators use Airbus procedures. We don't have an FCOM or QRH. For us: ECAM then OB/OEB, then QRM/COM...

If you have time it is ALWAYS worth reading the FCOM ABN for any ECAM as the FCOM often has important pertinent info that is not on ECAM.

For example if you have an ELEC DC ESS BUS FAULT only the FCOM Will warn you that you can only shut the engines down using the fire p/bs. If you just did the ECAM you’d get a rude awakening on stand.
