CrewAlert by Jeppesen

Just wondering if many TL users are utilising CrewAlert.

I was looking for guidance on the effect of selecting the time zone in the Duty and Sleep logs and whether you should keep it at your home base UTC diff if only operating away for a night or two.

I would also like to open Tech discussion on CAS utility compared to say SAFET-FAST which is the choice of my employer.

cheers,
Zap

I still use Crew Alert Pro, and used to mix it up with a Readiband (SAFTE) last year.

On the whole I found Crew Alert to be more forgiving, ie less critical, than Readiband: it would allow flights that the Readiband didn't, but I don't think that was your original question.

I keep everything in my local home base time, with "Acclimatization" set to off. Just need to make sure I log everything in the correct time zone!

My employer uses both: SAFTE-FAST in the Safety Department, and BAM by the rostering department. It's very hard, if not impossible, to accurately compare different measures of fatigue/alertness/sleepiness across different mathematical models. Having said that, one can directly read (via interpolation) the CAS score into a Samn Perelli and Karolinska Sleep Scale, but not so easy to compare with SAFTE. I use 75 (SAFTE, about 0.06% BAC) as roughly equivalent to 1700 in CAS.

Thanks,
My crowd use SAFET-FAST company wide but non individualised for personal factors.
BAM oft tells me higher risk of FTG as it is customised for my operation and personal stuff.
Certainly my SP and KSS scores align better with the BAM predictions.
Cheers,

I was surprised at how often CrewAlert predicted me as being just a "bit tired" when completing some simply appalling roster patterns. Consequently I think it's a bit pointless - I can look at a roster now and predict fairly accurately where I'll be bloody knackered.
