Hi everybody,
I bought the Bose A20 Aviation headset with the 5-pin XLR connector, this is Aircraft Powered but the ANR doesn't work without batteries. Am I doing something wrong or the ANR only works with battery power?? I fly A320 Family. Thanks in advance for your help. |
Well, to be honest, I've never tried my A20 without a battery to see if the ANR worked. It wouldn't surprise me if it didn't work without a battery installed. I fly airplanes with the 6 pin Lemo connector and batteries last for years, literally.

Aircraft power to the XLR socket is an optional extra, so it sounds likely that your airline hasn't taken that particular option. If that's the case, there's not a lot you can do!
|
Yes, at our airline NONE of the A320 aircraft have powered XLR sockets. I don't think that is very common so you will need to use the batteries.
|
I think the batteries are needed to make the circuit. Our aircraft are a mixture and on twin plug, I get 2-3 weeks from good batteries but wth the XLR5 Mike/box fitted and connected they last months!
That's with just a few days every now and again on a twin plug plane. So you do need the batteries installed but current drain is negligible. Hope that helps? |
I fly the 320 since years, with different airlines, who bought their planes off different airlines.
None of them has power on the XLR ports. |
Here's what the the Bose A20 manual has to say about the OP's question:
There are several end-plug configurations for the headset. Your headset falls into one of two general categories: • Battery powered: Operates with battery power only. • Dual powered: Operates with either aircraft or battery power. No battery needed when connected to aircraft power. This version is often called Flex powered and comes with an Auto On function. So, it the OP's ANR isn't working without a battery installed, that seems to indicate the the power isn't connected to the connections in the OP's airplanes. |
Thanks guys for your help. :ok::ok:
