737 flight phases
Do you guys know if there is any sharp broader between takeoff phase and climb? Flaps up? 5min? Any other? (737 technical limitation)The EGT lmit is determined for the TO phase and the question is how long it is allowable. During climb EGT excedance = remove the engine. During TO it is just a borescopy.
|
There are different segments of the takeoff and climb eg. first segment until gear is fully retracted, second, third, last.
Some engines are 5min some operators have 10min limitation. |
Not on 737, but TO EGT limit would be: during and after take off, while above climb thrust, for a maximum of 5 minutes.
|
FCOM define it:
... The climb phase begins at the thrust reduction altitude and extends to the top of climb (T/C) point. ... |
During climb EGT excedance = remove the engine. During TO it is just a borescopy. Second, as long as your EGT stays below the limit for maximum continuous thrust (895°C), you can operate the engine at that thrust for as long as you want. Ask a friendly engineer when you have a time and they will explain you the process of determining what kind of inspection is required after certain limit exceedances. Some engines are 5min some operators have 10min limitation. |
If you look in a Maintenance Manual, you'll find a table or graph showing the required maintenance required for an EGT exceedance, based on the time and peak temperature of the exceedance. It can be anything from no action required (or no action required for up to X occurrences) to remove engine depending on the severity of the exceedance.
Takeoff is normally limited to 5 minutes - for most engine installations 10 minute TO is only allowed in the event of an engine failure. |
10 minute limit is defined in the AFM and is not automatically allowed in the EF case. Our only have 5min under any conditions.
|
Whereas ours are five minutes normally, but ten with an engine out.
I doubt there is any difference in the engines as Flyingstone alluded to. |
