Sigh, dispersant is regularly used from boats.

Big question here is who will pay a standby cost for the airplane, or have a cargo operation flexibility enough to delay serving customers for several days while spraying dispersant.Apparently the value is so high to oil drilling and producing companies that sitting idle is worthwhile, wisely of them to be ready to take care of their mess, with a low capital cost machine but cost of crew.

Dwindling number of those around, intergranular corrosion of integral ribs in upper wing skin scrapped many, engine maintenance costs high too..

There are some used as fire fighting aircraft in western Canada, 'Airspray' comes to mind, may be at red Deer airport near Buffalo Airways, not necessarily related.

Advantage in remote areas and forest fire suppression from constant speed engines in flight giving much faster power response than classic JT8D et al.

I wonder if the high AoA is more effective at directing the dispersant onto the waters surface? I'm thinking of a more downward flow...
