A320 cargo fire extinguishing bottle

In A320 if the cargo fire extinguishing bottle is inop then the MMEL allows cat C operations without ETOPS with no limitations to the type of cargo. Am I reading it correct? Does not make sense to me.

Hi 1jz,

Whilst not ideal to fly for 10 days with no extinguishant, the risk is considered acceptable. Provided the cargo smoke warning system functions OK, then the cargo hold will starve the fire of fresh air by closing the associated isolation valves and the extraction fan stops. Thanks Goldenrivette, but then as Cat D it restricts cargo and baggage. Fire can occur even on the first day. Why not similar restriction since day one.
