A320 Reverser Unlocked
In the A320 the ENG 1(2) Shut Down checklist states that if 4 doors not stowed (CFM) or reverser deployed (IAE) If BUFFET For Ldg Use Flap 1 and if 1,2 or 3 doors not stowed or reverser detected unlocked Use Flap 3. Why this different configuration. Can someone please clarify?

With 4 doors not stowed (CFM) or reverser deployed (IAE) If BUFFET landing is performed with Flap 1 with 55kts. addition to vref to reduce the impact on the aircraft wing of a highly degraded aerodynamic flow around engine. In the other cases of reverse unlocked even with buffet the airflow is less disrupted landing is performed in flap3 configuration.

Hi vilas,
I'm not so sure it is the impact on the wing Airbus is concerned about. The QRH says: "When committed to land, set 5 degs rudder trim towards live engine." This is the only procedure I have found which specifies the amount of rudder to be set and uses the words "committed to land". (No GA) I suspect they are concerned about rudder authority with high thrust on the operating engine + drag on the opposite engine and low speed. |

As you know I mostly quote from airbus documents. This is also from airbus document. |
Has there been any change to this information. I am having trouble finding it.

How do we know how many doors are deployed?
If REV is green in N1 display all doors are greater than 1% of travel. If Amber, 1,2 or 3 doors deployed. but you don’t have to ‘know’ this - the ECAM will give you the correct procedure. beware- your sim may only have the option for rev Amber in flight. |
I had the same question ...but REV green will show on ground only when the system is fully deployed. Still dunno how to find how many doors are unlocked.. by looking out the window? Would ecam tell?
