A330 CBT

Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but anyways...

I am trying to run A330 CBT (or VACBI as they call it in France). It's an original CD brought from Toulouse a couple of years ago (2011 IIRC).

It ran pretty well on my old computer, however after a couple of iterations of Windows/Java/Flash it soesnt work anymore - it installs correctly, I can enter the menu, but when I open a lesson, I just get blank screen (with some voice at best).

Anyone has an idea how to run it on windows 9?

Cheers!

windows 9
that'll be your problem, windows 9 doesn't exist!
sounds like video drivers of some sort required.

I solved the same and similar by forcing the MSIE rendering core to run in old version mode, IE 6, or even IE 5 when needed.

This can be done either manually from the presentation or by modifying the header of each individual HTML slide to identify itself properly to the browser.

Thanks FD

Can you translate it to plain English? :} Can I do it via some menu in the browser?

And here I thought I was a geek.

Both Boeing and I suspect Airbus make CD's that will self erase after a time period. Just there way of keeping control over proprietary materials. Your description of what you are seeing sounds like this may be the case?

The VACBI seems to be some sort of Powerpoint wrapped into HTML code, which is open with MS Internet Explorer. For sure you will need Microsoft Runtime Animation Library. But this was not my issue, yet.

The recent versions of MS IE will not understand the outaded coding, so you need to switch the viewer (MS IE) into legacy mode, reading the old "MS IE 5" language. This will not happen automatically (which is the case with some websites) because the HTML code does not include the information "hey, I am ancient language file".

Try pressing F12 [MS IE 11] and

The ultimate solution is to edit each HTML file (plethorea) of the CD, adding a line that will tell the browser to use "version 5" automatically. For this I needed a good friend to write a script for batch processing.

Let me know if the above works for you. Also, if you are getting a black screen instead of first slide, try using right click, then select "next slide".

Regards, FD.

Hi FD,

Apologies for late reply, but I was away from home for a couple of days.

Only today I managed to try your solution - it works. I am getting the slides, so there's some progress.

However, I am not getting any sound. Any ideas ho to solve this?

Greetings,
