LDA greater than TORA
Could somebody please explain to me how this is possible:
London City Airport gives a LDA of 1319 metres and a TORA of only 1199m. It also has a stopway of 120 metres which happens to be the difference in the two distances but my understanding of LDA is that it doesn't include any stopway. Am I being stupid and missing something? |

If stopway is economically possible, the ASDA lengths to be provided are preferably those for the balanced field length. The runway length is the take-off run required or the landing distance required, whichever is the greater. If the take-off distance/ASDA required is greater than the runway length so determined, the excess may be provided as stopway, usually at each end of the runway |
