Question for anyone interested?
 

hi all,

I recently breached the terms of use at pprune and would like to ensure I dont do it again ( as I got banned for a short period).

However , I am keen to get industry answers to a question, or set of questions that I have.

I dont mean to be cryptic or anything, but if anyone is curious and wants to provide input to my questions, then please PM me and I will deal with everyone personally rather than my earlier 'shotgun' approach.

For the mods, does this method of 'voluntary PM ing 'satisfy your posting rules?

I would like to think I am doing the right thing here but let me know if there is something else I have missed to not incur your ire.

If John Tulla banned you from TL then you must've screwed
up real big time. John is a very patient bloke.

A good move would be to PM John and ask him where you
erred in your ways. I'm sure he'll respond accordingly.

No the mod was a chap called Rob.
My post was a masters research survey and these require approval before posting I have been told.

Regardless , I believe the information is important, so if you would like to be part of a possible solution to a potential problem, rather than a bystander, then point your browser to PM me. Especially relevant if you are a US citizen and think the FAA relaxation of small knives and bats is a good/ bad idea.... and if you think I am somehow damaged goods from those reasons (given the vitriolic comments posted by others) then fairplay.

Remember / heard of 'black swans... 'This is one of them.

Such surveys often pop up, but you just need to run it by a Mod to get approval first. Go ahead and check with a Mod, they would probably want to see your list of questions I guess before giving a thumbs up (or down).

I don't see what the problem is. Just go and get approval then!

Again I advise you to go through John Tulla - he can approve it
and set you straight as to permitted content in TL. John is the
most trustworthy of PPRuNe mods.

I am not a mod and I have no idea what the mods were thinking and I doubt they will be inclined to discuss their actions in public. All I know is I reported your previous post to the mods because it looked like annoying commercial spam, rather than bona fide research. One of these "surveys" where someone gets a cent for every respondent who volunteers his personal details. The survey also required watching a video which seemed to be a commercial for a particular manufacturer. Shortly thereafter, the link to the video was mangled by the survey site provider (disabled?)...and the youtube video disappeared (deleted?). Apologies if I was wrong - but all in all to me it didn't look very convincing as an academic survey .

If your research is legitimate, academic, and non-profit, why not present it as such, and send a pm to a mod, maybe including your email address affiliated with an academic institution, and ask for approval to post it. I'm sure people will be able to help you.

Soliciting clicks to possibly dubious surveys by PM on the other hand does not strike me as a brilliant idea.

edit: aren't you the guy with an agenda to raise awareness about fwd EE bay access in Boeings :oh: - not the typical penny spammer type. maybe it was just the presentation of the survey which came across as a bit odd.

Surveys have to be run past - you guessed it - Rob. In this case it has been reviewed and the die cast.

Main problem with surveys is that the totem pole folk want to see a benefit to the readership rather than just providing a simple and easy research vehicle for undergrad and postgrad thesis work.

Rob, I might add, is very reasonable and pragmatic.
