A 320 SFCC Channel 2 inop, ground idle

If you have SFCC Channel 2 inop, why does ground idle also have to be inop. to dispatch the aircraft as per the MEL ?

Thanks for your help in advance.

5.7.*SFCC faults

Each SFCC has fully independent slat and flap channels. A failure of a channel in a single controller will lead to slow operation of the associated surfaces. In addition, the flap channel of SFCC1 provides input to the idle control part of the FADECs and to the EGPWC.

Failure of both flap channels or failure of both slat channels is covered in Section*5.6, “Flaps and/or slats fault/locked”.

[F/CTL*FLAP(SLAT)*SYS*1(2)*FAULT, FCOM*1.27.50.3000, FCOM*3.2.27.5000, FCOM*3.2.27.6000]
Looks like the output of SFCC1 is fed to the FADECs, so the restriction is to prevent the possibility of bad data interfering with thrust operation. Not sure about SFCC2, but it may be a a precautionary measure.

Unless we're talking about SFCC1's flap channel (is that channel 1 or 2?), in which case the writeup makes sense as is.

hello Dozy,

Thanks for posting the link, great stuff.

On the SFCC 2 Channel Fault you also get ENG 2 Approach Idle Only (?) I´m still trying to figure out why only one engine and why only number 2?
Anyone?...

(BTW, SFCC1 Channel Fault s a NO GO item. If you check the electrics distribution section, SFCC1 is the only one you would have in Emerg Elec Config, therefore they won´t dispatch the aircraft like that)

Hii! When you have SFCC 2 flap channel fault the MEL requires you to have complete SFCC 1 operative and tested together with minimum ground idle inop..SFCC 1 is a nogo. With SFCC 2 flap channel fault you will get only eng 2 app idle as its fadec is supplied by sfcc 2. If there was any flap failure due wtb or hyd fail then there would BOTH ENG APP IDLE ONLY.. Thus in flight as SFCC 1 is fully oprtn after flap are selected there would be slight assymetric thrust IF DURING APP THRst GOES TO IDLE.
Now according to Mel ops both fadec ground idle has to be deactivated. Coz after landing eng 2 would remain in app idle and eng would be quite low at modulated idle which would create probs!
