Fastest lap time in 737/a320 etc round the Block
 

Just wondering.. In a sim session.. (no, not fsx or whatever) For the fun of it.

How fast Can you get your jet of the Ground around in some sort of pattern, and land your medium jet in a NON BROKEN and fully serviceable condition On the same runway ? :-)

The rules are: with engines running at the end of the rwy, timing starts at park brake release and ends at park brake set after the cct.. I found it easier to set a modest amount of flap and leave it set throughout.

Can't remember what the record was in the 737 but I can do it in a 777 in about a minute 15. Used Jersey airport to keep it honest. A problem is being too enthusiastic on the initial turn downwind and running the wingtip along the ground... :O

I'll give it a try next week on the A340 sim.

First lap around 90 seconds, fastest one around 42 seconds on the 737 SIM last try. Time taken from the moment the wheels started turning until they stopped.

F15, empty, engines spooled up.

ESSA: T/O rwy01L touch an go rwy08 touch and go rwy19L land rwy01L.
i can do it in 2:12 , not observing too many (any) limitations, but still not crashing

It has been done in 1:45

times start at brake release, end end at last impact/landing

1m20s 360 degree turn brakes off to main wheel touchdown - and I don't hold the record!!

A320, F2 or 3, Gear Dn, 160KIAS, 45 degrees bank around 200'agl.

Even better fun, LGW 26L, TO, under the passenger bridge over taxiway L, and back on to 26L. 2m20s and I'm working on it!

never timed but less than 30 sec as the parallels are only 3000 feet apart

it always shocks the new F/Os

Re-read raraa's post. He clearly says A320. There is no way you can get one of those airborne in 20 seconds. :=

Might have been longer, just timed a normal flex thrust today, and it does take quite a while to get airborne. :O

My point is, I think 360 or 180 to land on reciprocal take longer than to land on reciprocal of parallel.

Also just asked a fellow pilot and he said its still faster to do it from 26R turn left and land 08R.

Not quite the same, I know, but...
In Autumn 1959 my employers had one Hermes 4a on time charter ( until due for major overhaul or for several months ?). We had no use for this extra aircraft, as there little work around.
Head Office had calculated that if we did 336 T/O and Landings they could end the contract.
The aircraft was based at Manston, with its long un-busy runway. I was told that more than a dozen flights were made per hour, although some may have been " Touch and Goes", making a total of some 115 on the first day.
I was assured by the Head Office Manager that they were "Not all Idiots..."
(The subsequent days were cancelled, by Head Office. And the aircraft was returned to its owner.)
