rnav1 vs rnav2
 
If I get an approval of rnav1 from the state of registry or operator,can i fly on rnav2 route or i have to get an approval for rnav2 directly? ( operational term not technical) thank you.

If your AFM or SAFM includes an RNAV1 approval, that normally includes RNAV2 since RNAV2 requires less performance than RNAV1.

I don't think so

You may be RNAV 1 approved for terminal airspace but not approved for RNAV 2 in a given route or aispace, or even an RNAV 10 airspace

This is chinese to me...are we talking prnav and brnav? Never heard of rnav1 or 2

RNAV1 does not constitute approval for RNAV2 or any other RNAV specification.

1.2.5.3.2 Because specific performance requirements are defined for each navigation specification, an aircraft approved for an RNP specification is not automatically approved for all RNAV specifications. Similarly, an aircraft approved for an RNP or RNAV specification having a stringent accuracy requirement (e.g. RNP 0.3 specification) is not automatically approved for a navigation specification having a less stringent accuracy requirement (e.g. RNP 4).

In the US., certification for RNAV 1 does indeed permit operations in RNAV 2 airspace. (AC 90-100A) This is supposedly harmonized with ICAO.

RNAV 1 = accuracy of +/- 1.0 n.m. 95% of the time.

RNAV 2 = accuracy of +/- 2.0 n.m. 95 % of the time.

From ICAO DOC 9613:

3.3.2.3 Following the successful completion of the above steps, an RNAV 1 and/or RNAV 2 operational approval, Letter of Authorization or appropriate operations specification (Ops Spec), if required, should then be issued by the State. (empasis added)

RNAV 1 approval alone does not constitute RNAV 2 approval.

The specific differences between RNAV 1 and RNAV 2 approval is the use of Flight director or AP which MUst be used for RNAV 1 but not for RNAV 2 which may be flown using just a deviation display.

Correct. Which is why an RNAV 1 approval includes approval for RNAV 2 unless the approving authority is incompetent.
