How many BAC-111s still flying ?

How many BAC-111s still flying ?

I know the EASA type certificate was surrendered in 2010 so none supposed to be flying in the EU , any still flying out there in Africa or other corners of the World ?

Here's one for starters

1967 BAC 1-11-400 Jet Aircraft For Sale At Controller.com

That makes a total of 74 stored aircraft of which 30 are on the Nigerian register! A further 8 are preserved. Sadly It will be impossible to determine the final fate of many of these 1-11s. The majority of the stored fleet are now derelict with less than 10 aircraft remaining potentially airworthy! There may be a few more aircraft that have not been listed but I have no confirmation that they still exist.

STORED FLEET

An interesting summary on bac1-11jet.co.uk

Looks like around 6 to 10 aircraft still flying

If you check out this website it has up to date info:-

HOME OF THE BAC 1-11 ON THE WEB

It looks like there are only 3 airworthy 1-11s and the one at Boscombe Down is due to retire in July.

As a person who saw the first one fly on his 10th birthday and worked on them for a number of years, it's a shame there won't be one available for the 50th birthday next year at Bournemouth-Hurn.

Spey

I heard a rumor that Rolls Royce will surrender the type certificate on the Spey in the next few years and it will be game over for the F28 as well

aseanaero 30th Apr 2012 10:44

3 airworthy in the UK or worldwide ?

gordonroxburgh 30th Apr 2012 22:57

3 worldwide!

Great aircraft that due to UK politics could have done a lot lot more in future models which never happened.

Northrop Grumman also own the 111 simulator that European look after at Bournemouth.
