Flight ops standards required for Star Alliance

Does anybody know what sort of audits are conducted by Star Alliance on flight operations in order to be accepted into the alliance?

Any?

I have flown for several Star and one Oneworld carrier and never seen anyone conduct a review of standards before gaining membership.

Shouldnt this be part of the process?>

Suggest you download the IOSA standards manual and go through it with a fine tooth comb. About 120 pages dealing with Flt Ops, more with dispatch/cabin and other areas.

Is an airline required to be compliant with the IATA IOSA standards in order to be accepted into Star.

If so, who conducts this audit on the airline.

Have no idea. However, if you can comply with the IOSA standards I'm pretty sure that you will be in compliance with any Star Alliance audit.

The IOSA audit allows two airlines to code-share/alliance etc. without having to audit each other. The IOSA audit satisfies the requirement as the audit information can be released on the carrier's instructions.

IOSA in my opinion is just the bare minimum to scrape by. It does set a standard, however not a very good one because that would hurt IATA membership.

We're just in the process of joining an alliance (not star though) and the audits, both on the flightline as well as in the office and back-office side, of that alliance were extremely thorough. Our regular IOSA audits didn't impress them much and the required standards in pretty much all parts of the operation were quite a bit higher.
