A330 Tech info request.
G'day Gents and Gentesses
I am looking for some basic tech info on the A330-200. Specifically the range of -200 when operating at MZFW, assuming aircraft is not performance limited on takeoff. Please be gentle, I am a boeing driver and have no experience with the Bus. Regards VE |

On the A330-200 with zero fuel weight close to max the limiting factor will likely always be MTOW, rather than tank capacity.
A typical MZFW would be 170 tons, MTOW like 233 tons. Hence fuel could be as much as 63 tons, which translates into a flight time of around 9h30min with the usual reserves. That's a range of about 4700 nautical miles. Tank capacity is 109 tons, so much further flights are possible but would be limiting the payload. |
We operate the 238 000kg MTOW version of the A332 with a MZFW of 168 000kg. That will allow us 70 000kg of fuel. At 5500 kg per hour that will give you about 12:20 flying excl 30 min reserves. At 470 kts that will be about 5700nm.
Not the accurate calculation though |
Very general rule.
Blockfuel is between 5.25 and 5.5T for sectors of 4000Nm and more So for the 233T A33O-200 that would come to 65 tons left giving a 11+ish hour range for the 238Ton version add 1 hour. Numbers can vary because of many different parameters, age of aircraft, ,age of engines,MTOW, engine version, CI,... Interesting to know is that Qantas uses its 332 on flight QF26 from LAX to Auckland , a 13.30h flight covering 6500NM as a reference, the longest range A333 flight is done by Delta on their LAX to Tokyo flight (DL283) a 11.45h flight covering 5450Nm |
