Embraer XPDR problem

Hello,

during taxi to the departure runway today we received the "XPDR 2 MODE CHANGE FAIL" scratchpad message. Our initial thought to revert to XPDR 1 was unsuccessful as it generated the same message for number 1.
We were unable to find any information concerning this message in the AOM, the FMGS guide, MEL and QRH (actually we were clueless and looked everywhere).
We then agreed on trying out the ground reset procedure for "XPDR1(2) FAIL".
It seemed like this solved our problem, however we would like to know what we dealt with.
Does anyone have information concerning this particular message, or can point us in the right direction on where to find it?

Additionally, is there really no index in the FMGS guide where ALL scratchpad messages are listed?
I am aware of chapters 12-68 to 12-83, but the tables provided there are incomplete.

Regards,

Wartender

Hi Wartender,

Was it on an E-jet? It appeared once to me while on the simulator, and changing the XPDR side solved the problem.

I understand the original message is not an EICAS one, right? In this case it will not appear on the QRH, but I did not found it on the FMS guide either. In any case I will forward the doubt to my training skipper and see what comes out.

Cheers,
BF

Hi,

sorry I forgot to mention one of the most important facts. Yes it was an E-Jet. E190.

We never received any EICAS message concerning the problem, only the scratchpad message. Changing XPDRs only generated the same message for the other XPDR.

Thanks for forwarding!
Our maintenance department was not aware of such a message either.

I've been through all my docs and can't find a reference. Do you know what EPIC load you have?

Were you doing anything when you got the message? Were you above 50kt (its used in the logic for on ground/in flight xpdr mode) ?

Did you experience any other radio anomalies?

Was anyone using an iPad?;)
