777 Speedbrake lever

Good day,

I have a problem in a BOX, with that handle. It is not real A/C part. When not in stow or armed, say mid position extended, I have a bit of play back/fwd in the handle. About 1/4 inch in each direction. In the AMM there is not tolerance given for this nor guidance about adjusting a play back/fwd. Mainly I think because of the design, there is only one rod going to the actuator.

Does any one observed that play on an aging 777 or is it still crisp and sharp like when it came out KBF even after a couple of years?

Many thanks.
Alex.

There is no play in the handle. The new Aircraft may be a bit stiffer to move but that's the only difference.

In well used SIMS, I have encountered a lot of free play in the speedbrake handle, some are so sloppy it is difficult to get them into the armed position for landing, I guess that an average SIM speedbrake handle is exercised more in one busy day than one in an aircraft might be in a months flying.

Thanks
I had the opportunity to inspect one unit made of aircraft parts and I've found 3 millimiters of play max on the lever, nothing compared to what I have now.

Yes understanding that younger aircraft have a stiff handle and older ones, more experienced have a bit of "sloppyness" to them can be quite normal. Now if the handle fails to react to said stimuli I would not hesitate to request a maintenance action!
