CAE 5000 Series Full Flight Simulator
Just browsing the CAE website.
They talk about their 5000 series full flight simulators. can be made to reproduce narrow body aircraft as well as some of the new VLJ's. For a simulator of the Cessna CJ series or Citation Mustang, what sort of cost would one be looking to purchase one. What sort of maintanaance and running costs would be involved. The motion system is all electric just wondering what sort of kw/hrs it would use. Any ideas? |
Priced from C$9-10 million ($9-10 million), depending on the aircraft, the Series 5000 is designed to reduce FFS up-front cost by 20% and lifecycle costs by 25%, which tend to be two to three times the original price of the unit during a 20-year lifetime. ... if you need to ask ... |
But thats more than the actual aircraft if its a Citation Mustang.
|
Indeed but you cant crash a mustang and press a button and be back on the numbers.
Also in the case of the mustang it goes further and you can go for a pee :} |
May be a bit off topic, but I'd like to mention that 5000 Series is equipped with
simulated cockpit controls that breaks quickly when heavily used. |
Knowing how well "loved" simulators are, you would be surprised at what things aircrew can break:ugh::D:=:ok:

The company I work for recently aquired a 5000 series simulator and I have to say that those electric jacks feel wonderful compared to the old hydraulic ones. Absolutely magnificent piece of kit in my (pilot) opinion.
