B737 CL Pitot heat procedure

Hi

I´m wondering about the use of pitot heat on said AC.
Does it exist different procedures on this, or is it ON after start and OFF after shut down all around. Anybody leave it on at quick turnarounds?

Any thoughts about the wear of the heaters in cold vs hot climate?

My point of view is as an engineer who thinks he can slow down the replacment rate of pitot tubes in my company :E , maybe they will give me a huge christmas bonus... :E

Diamond, the checklists dictate when to switch off or on. Basically, they are on immediately after engine start until immediately after engine shut down....

until immediately after engine shut down....
After shut down? I thought it was always in the after landing procedure..

Yes, "after landing" also in my SOP.

Yep - after start to after landing. Except in certain cold weather circumstances - ie when there is a risk of them becoming iced up on the ground. Window heat is the one that goes on prior to start and goes off as part of the shutdown checklist.

The icing problem on the ground....that was the reason for the after shut down...
:hmm:

Are you sure you are not confusing the use of Engine Anti-ice during taxi in whilst in cold adverse weather conditions? I realize that the Supplementary Procedures contained your FCOM may be different from other operators.

I reviewed the Boeing Factory FCOM and a couple of airlines' FCOMs that I've flown with and there was no mention of leaving the Probe Heat on during the taxi in phase of operation.

I can ascertain you, there have been lengthy discussions, as they start here now. Never had this procedure before....
