767 Autoflight Bank Angle Limits: MCP v. FMC

For the B767-200, is banking restricted to 25 degrees during autoflight operation via the FMC, as it is via the MCP?

Thanx.

Been a while now, but I recall that LNAV will go as far as 35 deg AoB if it feels the need (say entering a holding pattern), LOC capture will also go as far as 35 deg if it needs to and HDG SEL will only go as far as 25 deg if selected to AUTO.

:)

The B767-300 I was flying last week went to 35 deg AOB in a LNAV holding pattern and flew the weirdest hidlong pettarn I've ever seen. :ok:

BH.

BH,

I flew one of new 767s recently. One of the differences is an updated Pegasus hold algorithm, which has the a/c lead the turn to the holding fix to keep it on the protected side of the hold vice the older ones where it will overfly the holding fix and parallel the entry on the non-maneuvering side. Was that what happened?

G'day precontact,

The 767 I was flying didn't have a Pegasus FMC. It tracked to the holding fix ok then turned well inside the outbound track and about halfway down the outbound leg turned towards the LNAV holding pattern and then flew around the magenta line. LNAV was annunciated all the time and the wind wasn't particularly strong.

It was just an odd looking pattern. The aircraft usually sticks closely to the magenta line.

Tanker driver are you?

Regards,
BH.

Yes, flying KC-10s part time nowadays but hopefully 767s when we start getting them now that Airbus has officially withdrawn their A330. You have a tanker background?

Regards...

G'day PC,

No not a tanker driver myself though I flew B707s in the RAAF during the lead up to their conversion to tankers. I left for an airline job before the tanker conversion happened.

BH.

I do confirm
35 AoB in LNAV
25 max in HDG
... but 35 AoB in LOC mode seems a little bit too much?
the 707 tanker had the turning knob, very useful in AAR and not mounted in the KC767 (as fas as I know)!
