B777 diversion route

This might have been discussed before so save me the flak..
On a 777, you have held overhead destination until MINIMUM diversion fuel. What is the easiest and most effective way(cause I know there are many..)to put the complete diversion route into the fmc and be able to fly it Asap. All inputs welcome..
Thanks ..

Greetings
I would put it on ROUTE 2

Flaperon777 23rd Feb 2010 09:47

I would normally use the RTE 2 pages for the slightly more likely scenario of a last minute runway and/or approach change.
That said, obviously in a single runway condition I would opt to key in the alternate route on RTE 2. But as yet I have come across very few circumstances wherein I have had the luxury of using RTE 2 for the diversion route...:).
Coat in hand..

This is what most Skippers will do however, if you are asked to HOLD, then...

Flaperon777 24th Feb 2010 08:31

I'm sorry but I did'nt quite get the implication...
If you are asked to hold...(??)
Genuinely curious.

............ so he was asked to hold

Ok that's ONE way!
Could we use the RTE 1 page more judiciously?
What if for some reason I had to use RTE 1 only..
Some people use the fix pages too.Wonder if that helps

Greetings
The CDU is strategic so if the strategy is to LAND at DESTINATION RTE1 is reflecting it, otherwise and if landing is not possible, then the strategy is to DIVERT FPLN to Alternate, ACTIVATE RTE2
:ok:
Using it on RTE1 is not the best you can do, because if the Approach changes :ouch:if the runway changes:ouch:

Don't forget to change the ORIGIN and DESTINATION on RTE page as the FMC uses this info for pressurization!:ouch:
