Faros FMGS A320 Trainer
 

I have a copy of the popular Faros FMGS A320 Trainer for the PC, but the NAV database is hopelessly out of date. I know there is a new version available so my question is does anybody know if this new version contains an up to date NAV database? Furthermore, does anybody with experience of the old and new version know if some of the bugs and issues of previous versions have been fixed? How about cost?

As with most serious aviation related material, it's hard to get any real information about the product or pricing even from the vendor! :ugh: :ugh:

It is suppose to be update using the real NAVDB :ok:

Oh, I thought the new version was a FMS 2 simulation, as the one I have is a rather old FMS 1...

Do you have more information about that new version with a real database ?

FMS2 could be HWL or Thales, on the other hand, Faros converts the NavDB into a text format.

EcaFAROS is currently working on a web based application. Once they completed it, it may be a more viable solution with regards to updates, cost, etc.

By the way, I think the FMGS trainer had a lot of errors. It is good to familiarise with the MCDU and some functions but it makes so many weird things it should not do...

Sorry to disappoint you but there is no such thing as a Faros FMGS A320 Trainer for the stand-alone PC. This info comes direct from the manufacturer.

When you play with an FMGS trainer at a TRTO, the program and database are fed directly off the FFS computers. Your PC would not be able to handle it even if you tried to copy the program off the TRTO's PC, as it does not function without all the data provided from the mainframes.

Many people have it on their laptops/pc as it is easily found on 'certain' downloading websites along side movies and games etc :E

Correct, the guy's with eye patches and parrots on there shoulders have been distributing it free for years now, including the updated nav database.

and the ECAM trainer by FAros?

Did the parrot on the shoulder guys crack it too?
