Headset re-wiring - possible?
Hello All,
Not sure if this is the right thread but hey ho... I've got a pair of Sennheiser HMEC 25 KA - V's (lightweight ANR jobs, use a pair of AA batteries to supply power for the ANR and have twin GA plugs). Does anyone know if it's possible (either myself as I'm reasonable with a soldering iron-wiring diagrams???! if not where I can send them - preferably in the UK) to get them re-wired to take airbus sockets and get power through that rather than having to faff around with batteries? I know you can buy this line of headset wired that way from the manufacturer but don't want to go to the hassle of geting a new pair. Also does anyone know if it's possible to get an MP3 line input wired in too? Thanks! Rob |
Well, let me see if I can help.
1 - I don't think you power it up through Airbus sockets. 2 - Any B2 LAME will be able to do the rewiring work for you. 3 - Really just a matter of chosing the wire type you want. If you plan on listening to mp3, high purity copper is advisable, but more prone to corrosion than allumel/alluminium types. An inverter relay will give you the chance of switching from A/C sockets or mp3 for listening. Or no relay, if you want to mix both sources. Just make source's output impedance is at least 100 times greater than your phones. Hope I have been of some help. :ok: |

You want to speak to a company that does Headset Services, and sure enough, there is a company called just that at Shoreham. You should be warned anything to do with ANR headsets doesn't come cheap!
