"Getting to Grips with Aircraft Performance" for Boeing?
 

I was just wondering is there is anything similar to Airbus' "Getting to Grips with Aircraft Performance" for Boeing? Some sort of an "all-in-one" aid which would cover key aspects of aircraft operations and procedures?

Boeing has an airline performance engineer training document called "Jet Transport Performance Methods" (or very similar). Doc ref is D6-1420 if my recollection is correct. My copy is at work so I am not able to check just now.

Aimed at undergraduate engineer level in terms of difficulty but an excellent standard reference work.

Keep in mind that several of the standard undergrad aerodynamics texts cover theoretical performance pretty well. For practical implementation, the Boeing doc is real fine.

As usual, JT is correct. It is indeed D6-1420, 552 pages as "getting to..." is 216 pages. Personnaly, i prefer the Airbus approach that is directed to pilots from all over the world whereas the Boeing doc is more abstract. On myboeingfleet.com, you can find type related documents on performance that are very useful.

There can be a problem with using Boeing manuals, in the sense that many airlines use their own way of presenting performance data. You could end up by learning a presentation that differs from your airline's, and so having to unlearn one and then learn the other. Good luck!
