Fcom / Afm

I am doing a research for a school paper and if you can contribute I appreciated.
1. For Airbus and Boeing pilots what are your views on the FCOM or AFM spicfcly the system section, Please specify what aircraft you fly when answering?
A) Difficult to understand B) well written and add specific comments please

2. During line flight how often do you refer to the system section? What for ?

Thank you for helping me!

Fcom/ A320

hi
i fly the 320s...
the fcoms are reffered to very rarely inflight... unless
1. ur studying them to improve ur understanding of the system
2. ur trying to answer someones query... nothing silences people better than somethin in writing.
3. supplementary procedures FCOM 3.04 when u need them...

FCOM 1 generally to figure out somethin with the system... eg when we get a caution or warning... t know wht generates it...
ECAM cautions and warning page..also the layout is decent.. but ive heard the 73 guys have it better....
i dont agree with the way things are all scattered around in the documentation of the airbus... it makes it really cumbersome findin things

FCOM 2 is meant essentially on ground and for despatch...
FCOM 4 when we have the time or need for it...

Everybody does things differnetly..
this is how we do it out ere...

lemme know if this helps

Previously on the 737NG and for the last four years the A340.
Boeing FCM; easy to read, easy to find info, well laid out.
Airbus FCOM: the worst I've ever seen, info scattered all over the place, language difficult to comprehend, appears written by a committee made up of a German and a Frenchman, translated into English by a Spaniard:).
