Lightspeed Zulu in Twin Turbine
 

Looking at getting one of these for use in a B1900. Has anybody used one in a twin turbine. If so, how was it?

I tried the Lightspeed Zulu in a King Air 100. It worked great. I normally fly with a Bose and the Zulu was just as quiet and comfortable as my Bose. The Music and Bluetooth is a real plus. I probably wouldn't use the BT but the music is nice. I tried turning off the ANR during the flight to see how quiet the headset is without ANR. In the Turboprop it's not that quiet (w/o the ANR) and I missed a radio call. In a real situation I would just pump up the volume of the radio so I don't miss any radio calls. But I wouldn't fly without it turned on anyways. I carry extra batteries in case they fail. I posted a review of the headset on youtube check it out

I'm using Zulus in a King Air. Love them. I've also used the Bose X, but preferred the Lightspeeds due to better ANR performance, even if the passive damping is better in the Bose X.

Think about panel powered vs battery operated. The panel powered units only had LEMO plugs while our aircraft have XLR sockets, so we elected to go with battery powered to avoid the hassle of using adapters. Blister pack of fresh batteries now reside in the flight bag, they last 40h+ on one set so it's not much of a concern unless you want to use the Bluetooth, which drains the batteries a lot faster.

Have used them before on the Embraer 120 - I won't get them in place of my David Clarke X11's - but they are still helluva nice headsets...

Battery life is good and the bluetooth is quite a nice function. One thing to bear in mind - they were my mates, and after a week's worth of flying about 8 sectors a day they broke - the ANR wires inside twisted off. Lightspeed dealers here did exchange them quite quickly though.

I use them in a Sa227 and I love them. Gonna have to disagree with the last guy and say the X11s are not one to consider in my opinion- terrible ANR performance- I had them and swapped them for the zulus.

Second that woog. The Zulu is every bit as good as the Bose (+music and bt) and much better than the X11.

In noisy airplanes there is one headset which is quite a bit quieter than the Bose and the Zulu which is the Telex Stratus 50D. It also has music and cell phone inputs.
