767/757 Landing flaps 25 ??

Hello all,

In light of the rising fuel $$$$ our company is toying with the possibility changing the recommended landing flaps setting from 30 (Boeing recommendation's) to 25(FAA legal).
I Would like to hear your educated opinion on this matter.

Thanx

Folks,

Read all the Boeing material very carefully, and in anything but a -200, be really, really careful not to bang the tail into the dirt.

Having "been there, done that", I never had to work too hard to think of a reason where the actual circumstances of the day precluded using Flap 25.

Tootle pip!!

We have been doing it as a "captains discretion" item for awhile on the -200 only. No issues so far, tail clearance is somewhat diminished, but then again, a normal landing in a 757 is fairly flat, flare seldom in excess of 5°.

We use flaps 25° often, specially in winter when landing at BIKF , we can have winds up to 45G65kts and 160kts flaps 30° placcard spd,(VS 195kts flaps 25° placcard spd), may be easily exceeded ; the aircraft itīs more stable ,specially in roll , but in windy conditions with speeds up to vref25 + 20 you land almost flat with very litle ctrl input and almost no flare ,at 160 kts the 757 just wants to get airborne again. It works fine for us so far.
