w/s at 360 over girom today...

bugger me! anyone else get a dose of very very bad wind/s over girom today? In my years and years of going over there I've never ever had such a ride. From .80 to .86 in 2 seconds! Doubt even concorde cou;d have done that! We had high speed buffet the works, scared the erm, ****e out of 235 guests. I heard a ryanair pirep, then bang! Anyone else had a dry cleaning bill over there today?

.80 to .86.....oh dear if your in A 320....what were you in ? a 757 / A320.

dangerous if your in a 320 as it'll clb re overspeed protections....once i see that trend arrow leapining up and down I am always back at .76 in a flash (a320). what you had it appears would have made no difference...well done.

Brown underpands brigade!!

Pal of mine joined the Alpha floor club recently on an intermediate down wind for a circle to land in a well known sh@te hole destination where the bora wind comes over the mountains and sweeps over a valley. I reckon his undies were'nt even brown... yellow from the fright he got.

:ok: well done.

Blooming big A320 to get 235 pax in! :ugh:

Must have been a B757

Tight Slot 14th Sep 2006 09:57

yeah was in a B757-200. Had a wing drop, autopilot just about held onto it. Thank god no one down the back got hurt, carts went flying the lot.

Very very unpleasent indeed.

Good fuel economy tho at .86, engines at flight idle... I'll put it to fleet management....

.86? Seven twenty seven was happy to cruise at that with the barbers pole at .88. You can't beat a bit of wingsweep!!!

Yup, I was there. It was just before lunch, it had been pretty bumpy but then out of the blue .84 from .77 in less than a second. 35 degree wing drop at the same time. A/P gave it a good go I must say but the old coffee went for a burton.

Passed over Girom northbound at around 2100Z yesterday, 70kts on the tail.....smooth as the proverbial.
However, on the way down from about DVL to abeam MANAK it was as rough as a badgers arse, speed from .75 up to .84:8 and all parts in between

Many years ago in a 737-200 we had severe turbulence over the Pyrenees and were forced to descend pretty rapidly. It is a known area for such.
