Weather websites

I am looking for a few good weather websites which provide satellite imagery of weather systems or synoptics or high level winds etc. such as those provided to us from despatch.

Can anyone point me to such websites please, thanking you in advance. :E

Try this link http://www.dispatcher.org/adfbrief.php

I is worldwide coverage and has more info than one could ever use.

This one is quite useful. For the Met Office link, you often have to chose which model was the origin.

I use
www.pilotpointer.com
Not sure if it's quite what you are looking for but it seems to have all the essentials.

www.ukweatherworld.co.uk is an excellent site and has a lot of links to others especially those concerned with severe weather.

Hachiouji-shi: don't forget books: extra 'non-aviation' met knowlege is always good: I do enjoy a nice discussion of atmospheric fluid dymanics now and then::\ :\ :\

seriously: thev web is an excellent resource, but books are more concise, and give you a good theoretical framework in which to integrate and discern the knowledge gained on the web.

AND - NO I'M NOT A NEO-LUDITE - just a terrible typist whose slighty lexdyksic :} :} :}

Just as a follow-up...

I built this page a couple of years ago. Granted, it generally reflects my own idea of what's useful, but you may find it useful as well:

http://aviationpolicy.org/current_status.htm

Also, on the top of the list on the right side of that page is this link:

http://aviationpolicy.org/current_wx_pages_loop.html

It's a loop of current wx imagery with (IIRC) around 30 images which takes five minutes to run and then updates with the most current images again. I usually have it running on a monitor I'm not using for anything else. Lots of US stuff, but some world stuff as well. My only caution is to be patient while the page originally loads... lots of images to load up.

Dave

Edited to say that I now see that two or three of the image links in the loop need to be updated. I'll be on that in a day or so...

File under meteorology,

Probably the best online cloud atlas. In German but reasonably easy to follow. Use the pull down menus for successive galleries:

North Atlantic weather overlaid with the proposed/active NAT tracks, very handy for the crossing.
