A320 GA Flap setting norm ops vs. overweight
Normal ops:
GA - Flaps one step, further cleanup after reaching acceleration altitude. FULL to 3 3 to 2 2 to 1 1 to 0 Overweight landing proc. acc. QRH 2.25: "In all cases, if landing configuration is different from FLAP FULL, use 1+F for go-around." FULL to 3 3 to 1+F 2 to 1+F etc. Can anybody explain me why selecting a lower flap setting with overweight during G/A makes sense? If missed approach performance is the limiting factor, why bother with the flaps one step procedure in normal ops (and lighter weight) which results in higher drag when selecting 1+F at once during an overweight GA is possible as well? Thanks for your inputs |
Just review 03.05.35 Goaround and optimum flap setting.
It starts when one consults the QRH for O'weight landing."flaps-establish"??I thought the QRH was to advise the Procedure in the minimum Time(Quick?).. So on route training we would get the candidate to 'look up' 03.05.35 and be aware in future ,that the O'wt landing would use Flaps 3 for the the least drag result in the Goaround(Higher Approach weights).. Hope this helps Cheers..:ok: |
NORMAL (landing conf Full)
flaps up one step at G/A (to 3) above F speed, select Flaps 1 above S speed, select Flaps 0. Overweight Landing conf 3.. Flaps straight to 1 at G/A Because the aircraft is "overweight" you climb at VLS Flap 1 to satisfy the approach climb gradient requirements. At "Normal" weights this requirement is satisfied with Flap 3. TP |
