A310-300 gear cycling at altitude?

On recent flight from europe; 20 minutes after take-off we leveled at 6200m / 20500ft @ 250kts approx. for a couple of minutes. Gear was then lowered - am still recovering from dislocated shoulder, tennis elbow and broken wrist from Mrs A's attentions - we were in 1 H & J which is presumably just above the nose gear which is why it sounded so loud. After about a minute, gear was raised and we accelerated and climbed to 31000 ft.
Any thoughts on why gear would have been cycled at this time / altitude?
Not a word from the flight deck. :mad:
Remainder of the 7seven hour flight was a none event.:D

Maybe they had an unsafe indication!

Overheat indication on the brakes ?

Or as Flyhigher suggests - some other unsafe indication. They may have been in contact with maintenance to resolve it, and gear cycling was the doctors orders.

A word into the cabin would have been appropriate, the professional approach towards the paying customer.

What, mention to passengers there is a "routine check" of the landing gear going on? Cabin cleaners will be removing fingernails from the arm rests, farewell letters written and last-rites administered.
