EAA Dash 100/200

Hi

Trying to get some research in on the differences between the DASH 100 and 200 series in particular that which Eastern Australia Airlines operates.

I understand the 200 series is used exclusively at Lord Howe and Mt Hotham due to short TODA and Density Altitude repectively but what is it that makes them a better option.

Do they have restricted payload or do they limit the seating to that of which the 100 series can carry.

Help is much appreciated

I believe the 100 has only the PW121, whereas 200 model dash 8's use the more powerful PW123, giving it better hot and high performance. Not sure about the horsepower differential between the two engines, but is probably the answer you're looking for.

I think you'll find that the Dash 100 has the PW120A, Dash 200 has the PW123C and the Dash 300 has the PW123E for their models. The 300 has the same engine as the 200 more or less but the 200 engine is de-rated and is quite nice to fly compared to the 100. Yes the 200 is used mostly on LHI for it's speed (280-290kts TAS compared to the 100 250-260kts. Makes it 30mins faster on the return trip to LHI) better payload with there increased takeoff weight.

Hope this liitle bit of info has answered any questions.:ok:
