GIV nose wheel excessive noise on take off

Hi

any GIV pilots around?

During take off roll the nose wheel is veeery noisy ( hard to hear callouts noisy..) And after gear retraction we can hear the wheel spinning fast for a minute or so inside the wheel well.

Did any body encounter this in a GIV? Considered normal? Other pilots in the company and mechanics can’t say for sure..

I don't know the GIV, but it sounds like failed wheel bearings to me. Get them checked.

No GIV specific knowledge, but after take off isn't the nosewheel braked by a snubber or somesuch on retraction into the wheel well?

Is the snubber worn/missing?

mechanics can’t say for sure.
Why am I not liking this.
Bushings could have worn excessively or may even be missing at this point.

Be expensive if you end up on you nose if it`s not checked by an Engineer, not a mechanic....on jacks if necessary....

Did this happen after maintenance?
It wouldn't be the first time wheel bearing spacers have been left out.

My ancient experience with GII and GIII it was common to have rumble as the nose-wheel was quite small for the usual forward C of G and went out of true quite quickly; we did explore having a balancing rig; usually spinning it on the axle, if no flat spots and if the wheel stopped consistently at one point then a balance weight re-distribution; a repack of grease and torque worked for a while longer. After retraction it should be snubbed but these also had wear and no re lining, though Marshals of Cambridge did devise a repair scheme for this circa mid 1990's.
