RT praseology "as filed" vs "flightplan route"

Gents

Is there a difference in meaning between the phrases "cleared to X via flightplan route" and "cleared to X as filed"?

I can't find a difference in any of the docs I've searched. Is it just a regional variation, similar to "line up and wait" and "position and hold"?

Thanks

As far as I know, "position and hold" is FAA phraseology vs. "line up and wait" in Europe (and maybe somewhere else?) Not sure about flightplan route vs. as filed, but my interpretation would be the same. Normally (in Europe) we get "cleared to XXX (destination) via (SID), so no mention of fpl route or "as filed".

The U.S. did away with "position and hold" a few years ago, now it's "line up and wait"

The AIM refers to the phraseology "cleared...as filed" for abbreviated IFR clearance, conditional on the FLP not having been amended since it was filed. This caveat raises the possibility that "via the flight planned route" could be used whether or not the current flight plan was as originally filed, but I am not sure....

Edt: According to Doc4444 The phrase “cleared via flight planned route” may be used to describe any route or portion thereof, provided the route or portion thereof is identical to that filed in the flight plan...and... The phrase “cleared via flight planned route” shall not be used when granting a re-clearance. Therefore I think the two phraseologies "as filed" and "via the flight planned route" are equivalent.

Cleared as filed - Means the aircraft is cleared to proceed in accordance with the route of flight filed in the flight plan. This clearance does not include the altitude, DP, or DP Transition.

Thanks guys. Seems like it's just a regional variation.

And yes, the FAA did away with "position and hold" in 2010/2011.
