ROPS. Runway Overrun Prevention System.

An Airbus presentation states that the ROPS stopping distances used during an approach are based on the same principles as the Airbus In-Flight Landing Distances, and include the minimum recommended 15% factor - Factored Operational Landing Distance (FOLD).

After the on-ground transition, ROPS detects the risk of an overrun based on current conditions, primarily runway remaining and achieved deceleration. Are the stopping distances used for this evaluation similarly factored or just the baseline un-factored OLD ?

The factorisation is to allow for the fact that we are not perfect pilots. So you may approach at the wrong speed flare at the wrong height take off the thrust at the wrong pace etc etc etc.

Once you're on the ground the aircraft brakes take over. It knows exactly where you are on the runway. Exactly how well you're decelerating. Never having used it why would ROPS need factorisation on basically the autobrake performance?
