Actually, there is a strong correlation. All you have to do is look at which types have had the accidents.

That is why it is a good idea to always get de-ice with all aircraft when there is frozen contamination and be double paranoid about doing so with hard wing, swept wing jets. Perhaps that means de-icing at a bit above freezing OAT with some water on the wings just in case.
