No idea what it's like in flight but on the ground it bloody hurts.

737-200 high power on both engines and wallup!

I was in the left seat, green as you like, my colleague in the right had forgotten more about the aircraft than I would ever know.
Loud bang, EGT through the roof and my mate slammd the throttles back.

Only after I realised what had happened did I wonder why my right knee hurt so much.
The twitch caused by the surge had slammed the nose left and my knee right into the center console (may have been the trim wheel to be honest, can't remember).

Moved the aircraft into wind and all was well.

Begs the question can a simulator move that fast to cause the same injury?

Pre FADEC generation engines are more sensitive to stall/surge,
with the modern FADEC engines there is a stall recovery scheduled in the ECU/EEC.
Doesn't work, runs down after the event most of the time.

I have earned a lot of money from the v2500. If you fart across the intake it seems to surge/stall. Very very loud audible bang. IAE have rescheduled most of the FADEC system now to improve margin. No good for my bank balance lol.

If you want sim sounds come ask to go on a run on a windy day!

Who remembers the 535 C's spike test. an engine that can handle a surge.
