Alternate Flap Extension Speed

The 737 has a 230 knot maximum alternate flap extension, when the LE devices are fully extended the maximum flap extended speed normally is 250 knots....so why the 230 knots in this case ?

Hi POOKEY,
As I understand it, its a load factor thing as regards alternate flap extension electric drive system.
It refers to ANY trailing edge flap extension on the alternate system, that is, any position that is not UP!

Cheers

Pookey - as you say, the LED's go to 'FULL' on first selection of alternate and there is no published limit of 250 for that (in my experience) - just the 210/215 for Flap 10 on normal extension, so I guess giving you 230 in a 'non-normal' allows you to configure when you need to, ie min clean at top weight.
